With a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology (Hons.) and a Masters in Environmental Studies, she has been involved in the Wildlife NGO sector working on wildlife conservation issues over the last 7 years. She is one of the co-authors for the Right of Passage publication - the only blueprint to secure 101 Elephant Corridors across India. She also leads the network of Green Corridor Champions - training and empowering local community-based organizations for protecting elephant corridors and habitats across 11 states in India. In addition to NGOs, government agencies and universities, organizations as diverse as Disney World, Shell Oil Company, The World Bank, and The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation have staff working on nature conservation. Leeanne Alonso will lead the session and we'll hear from several of WiNN's founding members about their unique and interesting career paths, including Ana Liz Flores (Wyss Foundation), Rebecca Kormos (filmmaker, IUCN Great Apes specialist group), Renee Gonzalez (Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature), and special guest Anne Savage (Proyecto Titi and Animal Kingdom (Disney). We also want to hear about your careers! Participants will have an opportunity to share their experiences and career paths during a brainstorming session and breakout groups. This will be a fun conversation of interest to all WiNNers- budding job seekers to established experts! You won't want to miss this so we hope you can join us! She will share how a search for red panda launched a community disease monitoring program in Nepal’s Himalaya. Chandrima Home is a recent Ph.D. graduate from the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, and a full time mom. She works on bridging the science and communication divide by being a more communicative scientist and currently is a Grants Adviser at the DBT Welcome Trust India Alliance. |
