WiNN NAMIBIA
WiNN’s Namibia founding members are women who are currently working within communal conservancies and conservation NGOs in
north-west Namibia. Collectively, they bring a wide-range of experiences from the community-based natural resource management (CBNRM) sector, with years of experience supporting conservation and community. They organized their chapter to create a space where women working in Namibian conservation can connect, share experiences, learn from one another and support each other’s growth by providing a platform for networking, mentorship, collaboration.
In the future, chapter members hope to expand this work to include engagement with local communities and conservation projects that promote women empowerment, skills development, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

WiNN NAMIBIA MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Lorna Dax
Deoclearancia “Lorna” Dax has worked as the Program and Partnership Development Assistant at Save the Rhino Trust (SRT) in Namibia since 2022. The organization is at the center of efforts to protect Namibia’s critically endangered, black rhinos. Found only in northwestern Namibia, these rhinos survive through desert adaptations that allow them to survive in this rugged, sparse, mountainous environment. Their ability to continue to do so depends heavily on strong relationships between local communities who share those lands and wildlife rangers; Lorna plays an important role in strengthening those relationships through her work coordinating outreach programs and fundraising for the organization.
Lorna is a recipient of a 2024 grant from Conservation Nation. She is also one of six international recipients of the Rising Wildlife Leaders Rhino Cohort, a new three-year leadership initiative run by the International Rhino Foundation (IRF) and Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) created to support emerging conservation professionals across the globe who are working on the front lines to protect rhinos with mentorship and training as they lead the next generation of conservation efforts.
